Melbourne Shoulder & Upper Limb
Located in Hawthorn East, Melbourne Shoulder and Upper Limb is a medical clinic for an orthopaedic surgeon and a team of physios.
We aimed to diverge from conventional clinical spaces by designing a warm and tranquil environment for comprehensive services. We entirely replanned the existing volume to maximise functionality and spatial flow.
The completed clinic offers a balanced approach to care through spaces designed for initial consultation and treatment, post operation, and rehabilitation.
Communal spaces are bathed in natural light, while private zones utilise artificial lighting for both ambience and function. The custom designed reception counter acts as a sculptural reference to the skeletal anatomy in focus at the clinic whilst contrasting the surrounding soft palette. The calming ambience is further reflected in the material choices, featuring natural cork flooring, timber accents, textured wall finish and tonal upholsteries.
