The Wolf & I Windsor
Housed in a Victorian building on Chapel Street, this grand interior offered exemplary original features for us to work with, including arched windows, cornices, architraves and moulded ceilings. The Wolf & I Windsor was about capitalising on these classic features to create a new sophisticated and comfortable space immersed in eclectic old world charm.
Designing this distinctive interior was a process of exploring beyond the usual solutions, seeking and salvaging vintage and bespoke furniture pieces and carefully curating them in a new light to create a space with soul and nostalgia. This porcess also built on the client’s own existing collection of art and furniture.
A stunning pair of 1970s blue/green Italian Murano glass chandeliers (from Geoffrey Hatty) set the tone for the rest of the interior. These vintage lights create a wonderful interplay between filtered light from the arched windows onto the opulent turquoise and cobalt blue walls. A 7-metre, bespoke bevilled-edge silver mirror enhances the natural light during daylight and reflects the glow from the pendants at night.
The walls create a moody backdrop to offset the European originals while Meme’s customised solid brass marble tables balance the space. The mid-century velvet armchairs are contoured with delicate French parchment floor lighting.
